Tekoa Fire/ Whitman Co. #1

Tekoa Fire/ Whitman Co. #1 is located on Poplar street we serve the city of Tekoa and the county as set forth by district boundaries.

Whitman County Fire District#1 applied for a grant in May 2008 and received notification that the grant was awarded to us. The total of the grant is $253,000.00 which will be used to purchase a new pumper tender for the county. The grant is through Assistance to Firefighters through FEMA. The cost share of this grant is 5%.

Tekoa/ Whitman Co. #1 also has a non-for-profit organization called Tekoa Volunteer Fire Association where one can make donations that are tax exempt that benefit the community and the fire department.

Fire pits are allowed in the city if a permit is received and approved from City Hall in Tekoa.
